Our Services

Wren Restoration provides tailored, conservation-focused, end-to-end land services aimed at conservation organizations, smaller landowners, and others seeking an integrated planning-management approach to their lands, including bird habitat improvement.

We listen to your goals and also pay attention to your land—its position within the larger landscape, the ecological types present or that have existed. Our aim is to equip landowners with the tools necessary to achieve their goals within the appropriate landscape-scale, conservation, and ecological contexts, particularly in habitat restoration and native gardening.

Wren Restoration offers the following services:

- Writing land management plans

- Invasive species management

- Habitat restoration, creation, and management

- Access and trail design, installation, and maintenance

- Vegetation management (e.g., mowing, brush-hogging)

- Conservation-oriented consulting services to landowners

- Support for grants applications and applying tax incentive programs

Invasive Species Management – Bender Melon Farm, Voorheesville, NY

Red Kubota tractor clearing overgrown vegetation in a field.

We provided assistance to the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy (MHLC) as part of a federally-funded habitat restoration project. Our services included the removal of invasive species such as multi-flora rose, buckthorn, autumn olive, and honeysuckle from about 10 acres of MHLC’s Bender Melon Farm preserve, following a comprehensive management plan that supports native plant restoration initiatives.

Parking Lot Regrading, Drainage, and Vegetation Management

This project involved reworking a roughly 4,000 sf heavily-used stone parking area that serves as the trailhead for a local preserve in Albany County. To eliminate standing water and potholes, we established a new slope using existing material. Additionally, we cut in a small drainage swale and reestablished the vegetation line around the lot.

Preserve Maintenance

We provide Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy (MHLC) assistance with managing their Montgomery and Albany County preserves, focusing on habitat restoration and enhancing bird habitat. Our services include trail mowing, parking area maintenance, and trail clearing. One of the challenges at the Mosher Marsh preserve in Amsterdam, NY, is an increase in beaver activity that has reduced access to about half of the trail system.  Maintaining these portions of the trail system requires additional effort and lighter equipment due to access limitations.
